Ronny’s Thoughts

If there is something that I hate, and  I mean hate with a passion it is spam. Spam (for those of you that don’t know) is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages. ‘Wikipedia‘ I could have given you my definition but then you wouldn’t really know what it is.

For the most part I am accustomed to spam in my e-mail because Gmail filters it with no problem. I dont even see it i just know that its there because it has a counter. I have seen that counter at 3000 at one time and i think to myself “what a waist of resources. Now i am not saying that 3000 is a lot because the spam box of a friend of mine was at 10,000!!! I asked him “What the hell man? How many porn sites do you go to a day?” He just laughs.

I am a bit OCD and I cant stand it when that spam box number is at anything but ZERO. I occasionally find myself looking at the spam to see if any of it is actually something that should have gone to the in-box. Eventually I stopped doing that and only looked at them for a laugh. Some of these bull shit commercials are actually funny. I would just have Gmail delete it automatically but there are occasions where something that I sign up for do get sent to the spam box and I have to go and find it.

The problem with spam is that its not just in e-mail its all over the place. For example in forums and blogs. My blog is no exception. I am getting some 30 spam comments a day. You would not see them because I have it so that comments have to be approved before they actually show up. The thing that puzzles me is the fact that its an attack on the same post every time. My No Sympathy or empathy post. It might be some crap ass attempt to find weakness in my word press install or some install of a plug-in. None the less I will simply disable commenting on that post and be done with it. If anything I can add a plug-in that makes it so that people have to do one of those security image authentication thing. The ones that give you a distorted image of numbers and letters, that are supposedly unrecognizable by computers.

PS to the asshole that is doing this: Stop fucking killing my sites bandwidth. It’s fucking limited in case you don’t know.

Ok so I recently was able to finally update my site. I was unable to do so because the servers from the hosting site that I am using where being moved. The change I made was simple. As you can see I have a new sketch. The former sketch that I had up there was a random drawing that I did with my tablet PC.

The new sketch is from a larger sketch made by John Doherty. He was doing live sketches at the school and I thought “Well why not?.” The original sketch is on a 8.5 x 11, sheet of art paper (thats the name I give to thicker than average paper with texture). I then scanned that image at the highest possible resolution that the scanner can handle. The scan turned out to be 20400×26400 pixels in gray scale, and a data file size of 19.8 Mb. The version that i have on the site is much smaller.

Expectations for this blog was to make it something of tech based news and personal crap but I constantly find myself just doing personal crap. This bothers me because it takes me away from everything that say and makes a hypocrite. If you know me personally then you know that I talk a lot about not giving a dam about emotion and sympathy. Yet everything I write is of an emotional level. This leads me to understand a few things. One is that i am not as cold as i want to think. Two this blog is going to suck if I keep doing s. So I am going to try much harder not to write emotional crap, and focus on tech.

I have recently bought the domain name “ronnyfry89.com” and that is the address that will now be used to get to this blog. Don’t worry because you can still use the original. I just had the thought that I really shouldn’t use my whole name as the web site address. Then I came to a realization that the one name that people know me by on the internet is simply ronny. The account itself is ronnyfry89 but thats just because ronny alone is probably already taken. Since ronny.com is taken, well why not my online name of ronnyfry89 and so now I own ronnyfry89.com.

On other news I will soon have a page dedicated to videos that is actually a re-direct or a table of videos on YouTube. I am a bit too lazy to actually be updating that page all the time so it will be a re-direct. Or I might make it so that u can brows my YouTube page from the video page. I think thats the cooler way to go.

Ok so I have realized that I am involved in tons of projects mostly during the summer. Some are personal projects that only i work on and then there are grope projects that i work on with others. I decided to post and keep these projects in record using the blog, that way it makes it simpler to keep track of. Also this is like the perfect way to show off skills

Now the way that i think i will make this work is simply by having “Project” as the bigging of each post dedicated to a project and update of a project. Then a “:” (colon). Then it will be the name of the project, and finally a number to correspond to the number of posts so far on the project.

Simple rite. Yea I know.

I will be including pictures if they are available and links to any research and stuff. Just make sure that you don’t plagiarize, steal, my projects. Or claim that I did. This is only because I don’t feel like doing all the legal crap that is involved in something that that.

I recently updated WordPress and so far so good. I though it was going to be much harder and with tones of problems but it was smooth sailing. There is one problem. Every time I try to save a setting or something the page refresh is not working. I mean it saves but it wont refresh the page. Now I am not so worried about it because it has done it to me before and all I did was give it time. Plus as long as the setting take affect its all good.

Anyway Ill be working on that till its all good to go. I may or may not let those of you that read this, know if i fixed it.

Well I have slide shows in the gallery page and from the slide show one can go to the actual gallery page. I am using Picasa because its free and some what e z. Although Id like to use something more structured like a Coppermine Photo Gallery. I’ll see what i can do to implement something like that. till then this will do.

Ok so I decided to ad a gallery to the site but i font exactly know how. The situation is that I want to be able to use an FTP location where I keep all the images and then have the application for the gallery load the images from there.

This may seem all elaborate but, when you want to run a web blog for nothing and have all the space and bandwith you want you kind of have to do a few things. That are out of the way.

Any way if anyone has suggestions as to a good plu-in for Word Press that can do that, or some CSS code hay drop me a suggestion. As long as it is able to just take all the images from an FTP site its all good.

Ok so hear is the thing there are a ton of things that I can talk about, rant, or just research. the problem is that I cant seem to get a look on something.

Saying that brings me to what I am asking. I need suggestions for a topic.

So just suggest away. Lets just keep it to one sentence if possible.
